Industry Associations Create Joint Working Groups To Address MiFID Compliance

Four major industry associations – FIX Protocol Ltd, ISITC Europe, the Reference Data User Group (RDUG) and SIIA/FISD – today announced their creation of a Joint Working Group to address the compliance requirements created by the European Union (EU) Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID).

ICEX - Impact Of GICS Structural Changes On Classification of Listed Companies

At the close of April 29 the structure of the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) by Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) and Standard & Poor?s (S&P) will change as a result of an annual review. ICEX uses the standard for the industry classification of listed companies. For the week of March 28th – April 1st, 2005, total trading volume on FORTS (Futures & Options on the RTS) reached 6 187 million rubles and 732 thousand contracts. Total open interest as of April 1st, 2005, increased by 20% in rubles and 22% in contracts and equaled 13 398 million rubles and 1 560 thousand contracts.

CME, the largest U.S. futures exchange, today announced that on Friday, April 1, it achieved a new single-day trading record of 6.7 million contracts, excluding its non-traditional TRAKRS TM products, surpassing the previous record of 6.5 million set on May 7, 2004.

Kuwait Stock Exchange Trading Report For February 2005

The index of the Kuwait Stock Exchange reached 6,741.4, points at the end of February, an increase of 234.7 points from the closing value at the end of January. The weighted index reached 355.88 points at the end of February, an increase of 11.19 points from the closing value at the end of January.

UK’s Financial Services Authority Publishes New Service Standards

Trading On The Spanish Market Hit A New Record High In The First Quarter, Posting € 203.78 Bn

In March trading in equities on the Spanish market through SIBE reached € 62.26 bn, 2.5% up on the same month in 2004. Trading on the Latibex market hit a monthly high, posting € 42.7 million. Trading volume in MEFF in the first quarter was 28% up on 2004, reaching 9.4 million contracts. During the same period, trading in stock futures was 4.2 million contracts, 61 % up on the year.
