Precious metals gained further ground today as Gold prices moved up for the fourth consecutive day and Silver prices achieved a new 22-year high. DGCX April 2006 gold futures contract opened at $562/troy oz. and closed at $572.70/troy oz., gaining by $5.30/troy oz. during today’s session and closing at its highest price since February 6.

The Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX) early this week announced a landmark development where the exchange confirmed that Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (ESCA) has approved its application for launching currency futures trading. Initially DGCX will trade futures contracts in 3 currencies – Euro-Dollar, Yen-Dollar and Sterling-Dollar with contracts maturing in March, June, September and December each year. Deutsche Börse Supervisory Board Supports Negotiations With Euronext

The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Börse in its ordinary meeting on March 30 welcomed the decision of the Executive Board to enter into concrete negotiations with Euronext NV on a potential combination of the two companies. On Thursday, the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Börse AG appointed Andreas Preuss as Member of the Executive Board effective 1 April 2006. Preuss will assume responsibility for Trading and Clearing Services. It is intended that he will also take over the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Eurex companies.
