New York Mercantile Exchange To Increase Margins On Propane Futures Contracts

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., will increase the margins on its propane futures contract at the close of business tomorrow to $2,000 from $1,500 for clearing members, to $2,200 from $1,650 for members, and to $2,700 from $2,025 for customers.
National Mercantile Exchange Increases Its Authorized Capital 2.25 Times

As a result of placing additional common shares, the National Mercantile Exchange increased its authorized capital from 1.4 million rubles to 3.15 million rubles. The report on the results of the additional issue of securities was registered by the regional branch of the RF Federal Securities Commission in Central Federal District 18 November 2004 (state registration number 1-01-38050-H-002D). Appropriate changes in the NAMEX Charter were registered by IMNS #3 of Moscow 6 December 2004.
NASD Fines H&R Block Financial Advisors $500,000 For Enabling Deceptive Market Timing, Orders Payment of $325,000 In Restitution - NASD Investigation Of Individuals Involved In Scheme Is Continuing

NASD announced today that it has censured and fined H&R Block Financial Advisors, Inc., $500,000 for enabling a hedge fund customer in its Orlando, FL branch office to engage in deceptive practices to market time mutual funds. NASD also ordered H&R Block to pay $325,000 to reimburse the affected funds.

Eurex Sets New World Record - Record Turnover Of 1.07 Billion Contracts In 2004 - French And Dutch Equity Option Segments Record Strong Growth - US-Participants Now Account For Around 30 Percent Of Total Turnover

The international derivatives market Eurex set a new world record in 2004. The preliminary figures, which include a forecast for the last eight trading days of this year, show that Eurex generated turnover of 1.07 billion contracts in 2004, once again setting a new world record (2003: 1.014 billion contracts). This means that Eurex will close out this year too as by far the world's largest and most successful derivatives market.
Emissions Registries: European Commission Adopts Rules To Ensure Emissions Trading Market Reaches Its Full Potential

Today the European Commission adopted the final piece of legislation foreseen under the Emissions Trading Directive, in preparation for the innovative EU greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme to begin on 1 January 2005. This Regulation lays the foundation for an electronic registries system that will keep track of the ownership of emission allowances as they change hands in the market. The emissions trading scheme is one of the key policies and measures developed under the Europe
