NYBOT's SPCI Contract Sets New Open Interest Record - SPCI Also Sets New Record In Underlying Value
The New York Board of Trade (NYBOT®) announced yesterday that its Standard & Poor's Commodity Index (SPCI) futures contract market set a new daily open interest record of 1,332 contracts on May 21, 2002. Additionally, a new month-end record in the underlying value of the SPCI futures open interest was also established on May 31, 2002, of $121,864,176.

MSCI Consultation On Tradable Indices

Euronext, European Leader For IPOs And For Trackers Despite worsening economic environment, trades in equity products through Euronext's market systems totalled 9,777,320 in May 2002, up 5.4% from May 2001 and slightly down 3.1% from the previous month. Year-to-date trades in equity products totalled 49,030,775, up 1.7% on the same period in 2001.

Holding Company For The Operations Of ICEX And The Icelandic Securities Depository Founded
After shareholders meetings of the Iceland Stock Exchange (ICEX) and the Icelandic Securities Depository (ISD), a new holding company, Eignarhaldsfélagið Verðbréfaþing hf., was established for the operations of both companies. At the ICEX shareholders meeting, it was furthermore agreed to change the Icelandic name of ICEX from "Verðbréfaþing Íslands" to "Kauphöll Íslands". Euronext.liffe Traded 58.8 Million Contracts In May 2002 - Up 24% From May 2001
Euronext.liffe, the derivatives business of Euronext, traded a total of 58.8 million contracts during the month of May. Average daily volume amounted to 2.6 million contracts, which represents an underlying nominal daily value of €636 billion, confirming Euronext.liffe's position as the world's second largest derivatives exchange in terms of value. Turnover for May was EUR 58,859.7 million. This compares to EUR 57,926.3 million in April. Domestic turnover in May was EUR 51,507.8 million, foreign turnover EUR 6,504.5 million, Nuovo Mercato, Domestic, EUR 810.0 million, Nuovo Mercato, Foreign, EUR 8.7 million and on the Ristretto market EUR 28.8 million.
