Listed companies on the Thai bourse have announced their operational performance for Q1 2003 showing total net profits of 74,033 million baht, a 63% increase from the same period last year. The top five sectors in terms of net profits are Energy, Building and Furnishing Materials, Communication, Transportation and Property Development. The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that it has considered the results of the completed background investigation and unanimously approved the appointment of William J. Korea Stock Exchange: Three Korean Exchanges To Be Merged

On May 16, 2003, the Korean government announced its decision to merge the three local exchanges, i.e., Korea Stock Exchange (KSE), Korea Futures Exchange (KOFEX), and KOSDAQ into a single unified exchange not later than December 2004, discarding its previous plan to merge three exchanges in the form of a holding company.
