Deutsche Börse Lifts Sales Revenue Year-On-Year - Positive Business Development At Clearstream - Cash Market Segment Xetra Records Jump In Profits - Group's EBIT On A Par With 2003 At €112.7 Million

Deutsche Börse AG recorded another year-on-year increase in sales revenue in the second quarter, posting its third-best quarterly results to date. At € 359.0 million, sales revenue was up 2 percent on Q2/2003 (€351.9 million). The company generated a further €19.9 million from net interest income from banking business (Q2/2003: €23.8 million). Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) were only slightly below the previous year at €112.7 million (Q2/2003: € 115.3 million).

Core Businesses Show Further Growth At Clearstream For July

Clearstream announced that in July 2004 the core business figures showed further growth levels as the custody and settlement division continues to benefit from full integration into Deutsche Börse Group. The value of assets held in custody on behalf of customers rose to approximately EUR 7.7 trillion, a rise of 5.4 percent from the same month last year. The breakdown of this growth shows advances of 9.3 percent for international assets and 3.3 percent for domestic assets.

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME), the largest U.S. futures exchange, today announced its Eurodollar futures on GLOBEX® volume totaled 1,819,330 contracts on August 6. Eurodollar options volume totaled 1,453,547 contracts, which was an all-time record. Total CME volume approached 6.3 million contracts, and was the second busiest trading day, after its record 6.5 million contracts on May 7, 2004.

Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange Raises TA-25 Index Float Requirements

The Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange board of directors has decided to raise the minimal public-float percentage for companies on the TA-25, Israel’s leading stock index. The minimal free float for a company on the index will be raised gradually, from 7.5% to 20%. The new requirements will be implemented at the next two updates of index constituents: On January 1, 2005, the minimal float percentage will be raised to 15%, and on July 1, 2005, the percentage will be increased to 20%.

VIX Futures Set New Single-Day Volume Record At CBOE Futures Exchange

The CBOE Futures Exchange, LLC (CFE) announced that trading volume in VIX futures set a new single-day record today with reported volume of 1,967 VIX futures contracts. Today's volume surpassed the previous high of 1,844 contracts traded on July 12, 2004. Open interest in VIX futures stood at 7,283 contracts at the close of business yesterday.
