CME-Chematch Benzene Futures & Mixed Xylenes Futures Begin Trading September 21, 2001 On Globex2

CME will launch the CME-CheMatch Benzene and CME-CheMatch Mixed Xylenes futures contracts on Friday, September 21, 2001 at 10:00 AM, with trading conducted exclusively on the Globex2 trading platform. Trading will end at 2:15 PM. Options will not be listed at this time.

CME Breaks Single-Day Volume And Open Interest Records

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) experienced the busiest day in its 103-year history yesterday, Sept. 4, as a record 2,914,719 contracts changed hands, surpassing the previous record of 2,834,016 set on April 18. In addition, CME has posted 11 consecutive days of exchangewide open interest records, beginning on Aug. 17 with 14,533,564 positions and reaching a new all-time high yesterday of 15,385,930 positions. The previous open interest record was set on Aug. 31 with 15,358,100 positions.

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®) today announced trading volume of 22,996,924 contracts for August 2001, up 17.4% from July 2001 and up 23.0% from August 2000, and up 3.7% for the year-to-date.

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Executive Vice President, Acting SET President, Mr. Surat Palalikit, disclosed that SET secutrities trading in August recorded a total market turnover of 17,910.21 million shares in volume and 172,408.80 million baht in value, increased by 81,336.44 million baht from July. The SET Index closed on August 31 at 335.57, up by 37.88 points or 12.72 % from the previous month."

SGX Derivatives Trade Enjoys Strong Trading Volume For August - Several Other Records Set In August

Singapore Exchange (SGX) announced today that total derivatives volume traded from January to August this year, has grown 4.63% to 19,457,816 contracts from 18,339,639 contracts for the same duration last year. The total volume traded for derivatives contracts in August 2001 saw an increase of 8%, to 2,476,105 contracts, from 2,292,919 contracts traded in the same month last year.
