Based upon the January 29th market close in the February 2002 expiration, the Chicago Board of Trade 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract is currently pricing in a 10 percent probability that the Federal Open Market Committee will lower the federal funds target rate by at least 25 basis points from 1-3/4 percent to 1-1/2 percent at tomorrow's FOMC meeting (versus a 90 percent probability of no rate cut).

CME Contract Specifications Changes: E-mini S&P MidCap 400 Futures Contract

The CME Contract Specifications pages on the CME's Web site have been updated to reflect the following: The Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. launches a new E-mini S&P MidCap 400 Futures contract exclusively on Globex. These contracts will represent 1/5th sized versions of the current MidCap 400 contracts. This action takes place on Monday, January 28, 2002.
