Margin Rules Changed at CBOE Effective Immediately
The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) with approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced extensive margin rule changes which went into effect on Monday, August 23, 1999. The changes represent another step in CBOE's efforts to improve margin rules to more accurately reflect market risk and are based on recommendations of an industry committee. LIFFE launches Short Term Interest Rate products on world leading automated trading system, LIFFE CONNECTâ„¢
The London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) on August 23 listed the first of its STIR (Short Term Interest Rate) contracts on LIFFE CONNECTâ„¢. The first STIR contract to be launched was the Three Month Euroswiss Interest Rate futures contract. The contract will trade electronically in parallel with open outcry trading.

Extended opening hours on the OM Stockholm Exchange and the OM London Exchange
With effect from Friday, October 1 1999 both the OM Stockholm Exchange and the OM London Exchange will be open from CET 09.30 to 17.30. This will extend current trading hours by one hour.

CME Announces Start-Up For Exchange-Traded Weather Temperature Futures
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange has announced a launch date of Wednesday, Sept. 22, for the world's first exchange traded temperature-related weather derivatives. At startup, the CME will offer Heating Degree Day (HDD) index futures for four U.S. cities: Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati and New York. Real-Time FTSE European And UK Indices To Be Calculated From 0800
In order to reflect the move towards the harmonisation of market hours by a number of European Exchange's, FTSE International today announces that, from 20 September 1999, the calculation of the real-time FTSE European and FTSE UK Indices will commence at 08.00 London time. The close of the real-time FTSE European and UK Indices will remain at 16.30.

Chicago Stock Exchange Board Approves Extended Trading Hours Session - Target Start Date of October 1, 1999
The Chicago Stock Exchange (CHX) announced today that its Board of Governors approved a plan to bring the benefits of a registered securities exchange to retail investors who want to trade during non-traditional hours. Pending the effectiveness of a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing, the CHX is targeting a start date of October 1.
