Copenhagen Stock Exchange: Share Trading Reached Its Highest Level Since June 2001

Share trading in January amounted to DKK 40.4 billion in market value. The average daily trading volume rose by 14 per cent compared with December 2001 and reached DKK 1.8 billion. The share turnover in January was the highest since the implementation of the new reporting rules in July 2001. The changed rules both implied a significant reduction in the number of double reports as well as a drop in the turnover and also a considerable improvement of the price picture.

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc., Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. Plan 24-Hour Trading Of S&P/TOPIX 150 Stock Index Futures

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) and Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE) today signed an agreement to enable customers to trade S&P/TOPIX 150 stock index futures around the clock on the two exchanges. Developed by Standard & Poor's and TSE, the S&P/TOPIX 150 Index is the world's first index covering Japan's equity markets that is free-float adjusted and calculated in real time.

Turnover for January was EUR 46,659.1 million. This compares to EUR 37,639.8 million in December. Domestic turnover in January was EUR 41,715.6 million, foreign turnover EUR 3,941.6 million, Nuovo Mercato, Domestic, EUR 971.3 million, Nuovo Mercato, Foreign, EUR 5.8 million and on the Ristretto market EUR 24.7 million.
