Euronext: Expert Commision Indices Comitee - SBF120 And SBF250

Following the decision taken by the Expert Commission for Stockmarket Indices on 4 February 2002, and subject to the successful conclusion of Arcelor's offers for Arbed, Aceralia and Usinor, due to be completed on 14 February 2002, Arcelor will replace Usinor in the SBF120 and the SBF250 indices, as from its third day of quotation.

Euronext Launches Sunflower Seed Future

Euronext Paris is to open trading in a sunflower seed future on Friday, 15 February 2002. It will be the only market in Europe to offer a product of this kind.

CBOT Memo Discusses Bush's 'Misguided' User Fee Plan

Dear Members: Today the Bush Administration is proposing as part of its fiscal year 2003 budget a user fee on commodity futures and options contracts traded on U.S. futures exchanges in order to fund a portion of the regulatory activities of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The fee is expected to generate approximately $33 million for the CFTC in 2003.

Share trading The average share trading turnover per business day amounted to SEK 15 244 million during January (January 2001: 20 493), which is a decrease of 26%. The average turnover per business day during the past 12-month period has been SEK 15 516 million. The average number of closed transactions per business day has been 39 316 during January (January 2001: 54 862), which is a decrease of 28 %. The turnover rate during January was 138 % (January 2001: 141 %).

Stock Exchange of Thailand Securities Trading In January 2002 Increased 48.72%

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) President, Mr. Kittiratt Na-Ranong, disclosed that "SET securities trading in January 2002 recorded a total market turnover of 45,466.20 million shares in volume and 264,488.10 million baht in value, increased by 86,649.13 million baht from December 2001 or 48.72%. The SET Index closed on January 31 at 340.82, up by 36.97 points or 12.17% from December 2001, and having Adkinson Securities Public Co.,Ltd. (ASL) as the most active stock."

The London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) traded 21.6 million contracts in January 2002, the highest volume ever traded in the month of January in the Exchange's history. This is an increase of 32% on January 2001 and represents an underlying nominal value of £9.9 trillion (€16 trillion), the highest value ever traded in the month of January. The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc., announced today that beginning Monday, February 4, CNBC will broadcast its new morning show, "Wake-Up Call with Liz Claman and Carl Quintanilla" live from the television studio of the Nasdaq MarketSite. The show, which is part of CNBC's new Business Day line-up, will air Monday through Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
