    Trading in the Kansas City Board of Trade wheat options contract set a new single-day record of 5,410 contracts on Wednesday, May 29, breaking the previous single day record of 5,261 contracts, which was set on June 26, 2001.

    John M. Morrissey, Deputy Chief Accountant, announced today that, after two and one-half years of service, he is leaving the Commission. Morrissey, 46, came to the Commission in January 2000 and has significantly participated in many of the Commission's major policy and regulatory initiatives. Morrissey has not yet accepted another position but intends to continue his professional career in the private sector.

    Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) has appointed Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong Ltd., an independent certified electrical and mechanical consultant, to examine the failure of the UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) system that caused the trading interruption in the derivatives market on Tuesday, 28 May. The consultant will start work tomorrow (Friday, 31 May) and HKEx expects to receive a report in about two weeks.
