PHLX Sets Equity And Options Volume Records

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today that equity volume for the month of September 2000 reached 158,662,745 shares traded, a 55% increase over September 1999, when 102,653,810 changed hands. In addition, during the first nine months of 2000, PHLX traded a record of approximately 1.6 billion shares, an increase of 37% in comparison to the same period last year when 1,183,409,136 shares changed hands. The PHLX currently trades 2,300 equities.

NYMEX To Lower Western Electricity Margins As Of Close Of Business Tomorrow

Tokyo Stock Exchange, Chicago Mercantile Exchange To Pursue Global Alliance

The Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) announced plans to pursue a global alliance between the two exchanges. The goal is to further develop the exchanges' fixed income and equity derivatives markets, including the potential development of joint products and globally interconnected electronic trading systems.

The Central Bank Of Iceland Auctions Repurchase Agreements For 16.6 Billion Krónur

The Central Bank of Iceland held a weekly auction of repurchase agreements on October 17 of the standard maturity of 14 days. The auction was a fixed rate one at 10.6 per cent p.a. Offers were made for a total amount of 16.6 billion krónur resulting in repurchase contracts for that amount.

The Stock Exchange Board has today formally approved the agreements that will form the basis for the Oslo Stock Exchange to join the NOREX alliance of Nordic stock exchanges. The board of the Oslo Stock Exchange today approved the agreements with the NOREX Alliance. On the assumption that the Stock Exchange Council acknowledges the agreements the Oslo Stock Exchange will become a partner of the NOREX Alliance.
