    Sterling Bancshares, Inc. (Nasdaq:SBIB) of Houston, Texas, will become a component of the Nasdaq Financial-100 Index®, effective at the beginning of trading Thursday, February 15, 2001. Sterling Bancshares will replace E*TRADE Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:EGRP), which is delisting from The Nasdaq Stock Market®.

    Euronext Amsterdam’s markets achieved good results in the first month of 2001. The total value of turnover on the stock market exceeded ? 221 billion, up 30% on January 2000. The newly introduced trackers (investment products that closely follow an index) also performed well. In their first month, trackers included in the NextTrack segment had a total market capitalisation of ? 439 million.
