CME's E-Mini S&P 500 Futures Sets New Daily Volume Record
Trading volume in Chicago Mercantile Exchange's E-mini S&P 500 futures set another record today with over 46,300 trades having been executed on the exchange's GLOBEX®2 electronic trading system during March 23rd's session.

Russell 1000® Futures Index Contract on NYBOT Breaks 5,000 in Open Interest in First Week of Trading
After its first full week of trading, the newly launched Russell 1000 Index futures contract on the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) reached an open interest level of 5,057 at the end of trading on Friday, March 12, 1999. Futures volume to date stands at 13,014 contracts traded.

Paris Stock Exchange Trading Volume Dips From January's Record High
Trading volume on the Paris markets dipped slightly in February, to 4.12 million trades. The daily average was EUR2.29 million for February is below January's record figure of EUR2.62 billion, but is 37% higher than in February 1998 and 11% higher than 1998's daily average value. Year-to-date transaction volume for the months of January and February stood at 8.78 million trades, a 27% increase from 1998.

NYMEX Exchange Chairman Elected to Fourth Term
Daniel Rappaport was elected to a fourth two-year term as chairman of the New York Mercantile Exchange, making him the longest currently sitting chairman of any futures exchange in the world.

Ljubljanska Stock Exchange February Turnover SIT22.8 Billion
Ljubljanska Stock Exchange's total turnover in February 1999 was SIT22.8 billion. This almost equalled January's turnover of SIT23.4 billion and has more than doubled February 1998's volume of SIT9.2 billion.

LIFFE Announces Preliminary Results for 1998
The Board of the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) has approved the audited results for the year ended 31 December 1998. Ides of March Cause for Celebration at the IPE
The announcement of output cuts by OPEC last week led to three dramatic days of trading at the IPE. On Wednesday 10 March, a new record was set of 154,594 lots. This record was broken on Thursday 11 March, with a volume of 157,381 lots and again on Friday March 12, with a volume of 170,320 lots.
