Nymex Tops The $1 Billion Mark In Over-The-Counter Clearing Activity

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., today announced that it has cleared more than $1.1 billion worth of over-the-counter (OTC) deals in natural gas and electricity, equivalent to 294 trillion British thermal units of natural gas and 118,400 megawatt hours of electricity.

Teradata, a division of NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), today announced that London Stock Exchange plc will deploy a Teradata real-time data warehouse as part of its plans to increase the depth and speed of the financial market intelligence services it delivers. The Teradata solution will be implemented for the exchange by Accenture, the exchange's system integration partner.

Kansas City Board Of Trade Sets New Exchange Annual Volume Record

Trading activity Monday at the Kansas City Board of Trade pushed 2002 exchange year-to-date trading volume past the previous annual record, capitalizing on a year of active volume in wheat futures and wheat options trading. Year-to-date volume at the KCBT through Monday was 2,664,746 contracts, surpassing the previous annual record of 2,664,669 contracts set in 2000. More than two months remain for the exchange to build on the new annual record.

iBoxx: Liquid Indices For The European Bond Market Start On October 23

The Liquid Indices for European fixed-income securities will be launched on October 23, the European index provider iBoxx Ltd. announced on Tuesay. As previously reported, the new indices cover highly liquid euro-denominated bonds. The Liquid Indices will initially comprise 22 indices on corporate bonds, government bonds and sub-sovereigns. Maturity indices will be calculated for government bonds, and corporate bonds will have rating and sector subindices.

CME, Korea Futures Exchange Agree To Pursue Joint Initiatives

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) and the Korea Futures Exchange (KOFEX) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to pursue joint business development initiatives in derivatives products. Under the agreement, the exchanges will discuss a variety of issues, including cooperation related to product development and information sharing.
