2001 Is Second Highest Year On Record At CBOE

Capping off the second strongest year in its history, the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), the world's largest options exchange, ended 2001 with total exchange-wide volume of 306,669,713 contracts (180,686,938 calls and 125,982,775 puts). Index options exhibited the strongest growth, with year-end total index volume showing a 55% increase over year-ago levels.

Turnover In November 2001 the total turnover on all market segments of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange was SIT 40.23 billion and reached the highest monthly value of the year. A record value was reached also by the total turnover of this year since it exceeded the record turnover of the year 2000. In the first eleven months of this year the total turnover on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange amounted to SIT 302.06 billion, which was SIT 32.44 billion or 12% above the year 2000 figure.

Kansas City Board Of Trade 2001 Exchange Volume Second-Largest Ever

The year 2001 was the second-largest ever in the history of the Kansas City Board of Trade in terms of the volume of contracts traded. Total exchange volume at the Kansas City Board of Trade fell just short of last year's record of 2,664,669 contracts by only 46,180 contracts, which was a decrease of 1.7 percent.

The international derivatives exchange Eurex closed out the year 2001 with a record volume of more than 674 contracts traded. Eurex thus topped the previous year's total by 48 percent and further expanded its position as the world's leading derivatives exchange. Annual trading volume on Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. rose to the highest level in CME's 103-year history in 2001, reaching 411.7 million contracts and surpassing the previous record year, 2000, by more than 78 percent. CME's 2001 trading volume made it the largest futures exchange in the United States for the first time.
