For the week of January 19th - January 23rd, 2004, total trading volume on FORTS (Futures & Options on the RTS) reached 603 thousand contracts and 4 817 million rubles, compared with 670 thousand contracts and 5 284 million rubles for the previous week. Total open interest as of January 23rd, 2003, reached 4 412 million rubles and 543 thousand contracts, compared with 3 444 million rubles and 417 thousand contracts.

CME To Launch Yen And U.S. Dollar-Based Nikkei® 225 Index Futures Contracts On GLOBEX® - Market Users Will Now Have Access To Yen-Based Nikkei 225 Index Futures During U.S.And European Business Hours

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME), the largest U.S. futures exchange, announced it will launch Japanese-yen denominated Nikkei® 225 stock index futures contracts on Feb. 23, marking the first time yen-denominated Nikkei contracts will be offered for trading during non-Asian business day hours. The product will be listed for trading on CME's GLOBEX® electronic trading platform.

TIFFE: Rollover Of Three-Month Euroyen Futures Leading Contract Month - Leading Contract Month Will Be Dec2004 From January 22, 2004

On both January 22 and 23, the Tokyo International Financial Futures Exchange (TIFFE) saw the trading volume of the current leading contract month of Three-month Euroyen Futures -September 2004- being exceeded by the next contract month -December 2004-, which marked the highest volume on both trading days among all Euroyen futures. The SET starts out the year with an international roadshow in conjunction with the MoF, the BoT, and Credit Suisse First Boston Securities (Thailand). The American Stock Exchange Lists Capital Protected Notes Based On MSCI EAFE Index

The American Stock Exchange (Amex) today began trading Morgan Stanley Capital Protected Notes based upon the value of the MSCI EAFE Index. 1.14 million shares of the new seven-year Notes were issued at $12.50 principal amount, with a maturity date of March 30, 2011.

Pacific Exchange Demutualization Plan Approved - Seat Owners Vote Overwhelmingly To Convert To For-Profit Corporation

The Pacific Exchange (PCX) announced yesterday that its seat owners voted overwhelmingly in favor of a plan to convert the PCX from a not-for-profit membership organization to a for-profit stock corporation. The final tally was 443 in favor (90 percent) to 51 against. The Exchange has 552 seats, each with a vote.

Nymex Increases Margins For Coal And Propane Futures Contracts

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., will increase the margins for its Central Appalachian coal and propane futures contracts at the close of business on Monday.
