CFTC And NFA Announce New Rules To Combat Fraud In The Retail Off-Exchange Forex Foreign Currency Market
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and National Futures Association (NFA) today announced the CFTC's approval of several NFA rules designed to protect investors in the retail off-exchange foreign currency (forex) futures and option market. The new rules impose tougher standards on firms that are forex dealer Members of the Association.

CBOE Schedule For Labor Day Holiday
The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) today announced the following trading schedule in observance of the Labor Day holiday: Friday, August 29: CBOE interest rate option products will close at 12:00 Noon CDT (Chicago time).Regular trading hours will be in effect for all other CBOE products. Monday, September 1: CBOE will be closed.

Stock Exchange Of Thailand Board Approves Investment In Equity Funds Totaling 600 Million Baht And Makes Connected Transaction Rules More Stringent Enabling Shareholders To File Cases Against Directors Not Complying With The Regulations
Mr. Kittiratt Na-Ranong, President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand, in disclosing the SET Board of Governors' resolution on Monday August 25, 2003, said that the Board approved allocation of an additional fund worth 250 million baht to invest in equity funds in addition to the previously approved amount of 350 million baht making the total allocation worth 600 million baht.

Stock Exchange of Thailand Board Appoints Mr. Vijit As Chairman
Mr. Kittiratt Na-Ranong, President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand announced that the SET Board of Governors has passed a resolution on Monday, August 25, 2003, to appoint Mr. Vijit Supinit to be the SET Chairman. Mr. Vijit will be replacing Mr. Chavalit Thanachanan, who resigned from the SET board of governors, hence leaving a vacancy for the position. Standard & Poor's will make the following index changes after the close of trading on Tuesday, August 26, 2003: MI Developments Inc. RTS Stock Exchange Order-Driven Market: Weekly Market Data
For the period of August 18th - August 22nd, 2003, total trading volume of direct and indirect transactions (including REPO transactions) increased by 32% and totaled 3 878 million rubles, compared with 2 937 million the previous week. Internet trading accounted for 37% of total trading volume in rubles, up from 33% the previous week. 7 551 transactions were closed, 46% from 5 155 transactions last week.
