The Securities and Exchange Commission announced today enforcement proceedings against Halliburton Co., its former chief financial officer, Gary V. Morris, and its former controller, Robert C. Muchmore, Jr. The Commission's actions are in response to Halliburton's failure to disclose a 1998 change to its accounting practice. As a result of that undisclosed change, Halliburton's public statements regarding its income in 1998 and 1999 were materially misleading.

SEC And NYSE Charge Fidelity Brokerage Services For Violating Federal Securities Laws And NYSE Rules In Connection With Document Alteration And Destruction - Firm Will Pay $2 Million in Penalties to Settle Actions

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the New York Stock Exchange today announced the initiation and settlement of enforcement actions against Fidelity Brokerage Services, LLC as a result of the alteration or destruction of documents in numerous Fidelity Brokerage branch offices. In settlement of these actions, Fidelity Brokerage will pay a total of $2 million, consisting of a $1 million civil penalty imposed by the SEC and a $1 million fine imposed by the NYSE. The All Share Index closed at 6160.94 on 31, July 2004 up(%7.85) from 5712.74 for the previous month. The capitalization of the market reached SR 831.77 billion ( US$ 221.8 billion ) an increase of 8% compared to July 2004 when it stood at SR 769.32 billion ( US$ 205.2 billion ).

S&P/IFCG Sri Lanka Total Return Index has been revised upwards for July 13, 2004 through July 30, 2004. The index was revised due to dividends paid out to holders of Caltex Lubricants (SPID 524470.1/ SEDOL 6517270) and Ceylon Tobacco (SPID 524130.1/ SEDOL 6186904) shares. The S&P/IFCG Composite and Asia Indices were unaffected by the changes.
