Eurex Trading Volume Up 16 Percent In July - 107 Million Contracts Traded On Eurex In July - Total Volume In 2006 To Date Reaches 931 Million Contracts, Up 27 Percent Year On Year

Eurex, the world's largest derivatives exchange, traded and cleared 107 million contracts in July, a 16 percent rise year-on-year (July 2005: 92 million contracts). Approximately 931 million contracts were traded in the first seven months of 2006, an increase of approximately 27 percent on the same period in 2005. Average daily trading volume at Eurex currently stands at 6.3 million contracts.

Equities turnover on all German stock exchanges rose in July 2006 compared with the previous year. The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced today that trading volume for the month of July totaled 53.3 million contracts, an increase of 48% over the 35.9 million contracts traded in July 2005. Trading at CBOE continues its record-setting pace in 2006; through the first seven months of the year, CBOE's year-to-date volume of 391.7 million contracts is 55% ahead of 2005's volume of 252.5 million contracts, the previous all-time record year at CBOE.
