  • Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Volume Posts Increase For 2003/04 Crop Year

    Total volume of trade on Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Inc. for the 2003/04 crop year, which ended July 31, 2004, was 2,016,546 contracts. This level of trade represents an increase of 3.9% from the total volume recorded for the 2002/03 crop year. Futures contract trade for the crop year was 3.1% higher than a year ago, with feed wheat futures posting the strongest gains in volume.   • Winnipeg Commodity Exchange New Crop Canola Futures Prices Fell Sharply In July

    New crop canola futures prices at the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange fell sharply through the month of July. The November 2004 canola futures contract closed the month of July at a life-ofcontract low of $327.70 per metric tonne. The price dropped $33.50 per tonne from the closing price at the end of June, which equates to an over 9 percent decline in value.
