Former KPMG Partner Pays $100,000 To Settle SEC Litigation Relating To Xerox Audits

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced that Joseph T. Boyle, a former partner with KPMG LLP, agreed to settle the SEC's charges against him in connection with his role as the relationship partner on the audits of Xerox Corp. from 1999 through 2000. Boyle consented to the entry of a final judgment in the SEC's civil litigation against him pending in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The final judgment, which is subject to approval by the Honorable Denise L.

EEX: Record Turnover On The Electricity Spot Market

The EEX pursues its positive, undiminished trading trend and announces a record turnover of electricity trading on the EEX Spot Market. With a daily volume of 321.939 MWh on 3 October 2005, a new benchmark was established. It corresponds to appox. 24 % of the average German daily electricity consumption of around 1.350.000 MWh. The second and third highest trade volumes were reached on 5 October 2005 with 279.857 MWh and on 4 October 2005 with 267.738 MWh.

Dow Jones Indexes, a leading global index provider, today announced that the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index will serve as the basis of an exchange-traded fund (ETF) expected to launch Friday on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by Indexchange, the German investment company that specializes in ETFs. The index, which tracks the top 100 highest dividend-paying U.S. companies, is the first U.S. dividend-weighted index to serve as an underlying for investment products in Europe.

Copenhagen Stock Exchange Implements Committee’s Revised Recommendations For Corporate Governance Into Disclosure Requirements

The Copenhagen Stock Exchange has decided to implement the Committee’s revised Recommendations for corporate governance into the disclosure requirements for listed companies, obliging the companies, in accordance with the “comply-or-explain” principle, to include in their future annual reports a statement on how they address the Recommendations.

CME E-mini S&P 500 Options More Than Double Previous Volume Record; Technology Enhancements For Equity Options To Launch On Oct. 9

CME, the world's largest and most diverse financial exchange, set a new volume record on Wednesday, October 5, for options on CME E-mini(R) S&P 500(R) futures with 107,985 contracts traded, more than double the previous record of 45,903 contracts set on Sept. 15, 2005. Open interest also reached a new level at 334,123 positions.

CBOE Volume In S&P 500 Index Options Reaches New Milestone: Trading Surpasses 50 Million Contracts For First Time Ever

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced that volume in options on the Standard & Poor's 500 Index (SPX) reached a new milestone today as total year-to-date volume surpassed 50 million contracts traded at CBOE. This is the first time ever that volume in SPX options has topped the 50 million contracts benchmark and has now passed the 49.4 million contracts record yearly volume set last year.
