Accounting Standards: EU Commissioner McCreevy Sees Agreement With S.E.C. As Progress Toward Equivalence

In Washington today, top officials of the EU Commission and the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), meeting in the context of the EU-US Financial Markets Regulatory Dialogue, reached agreement on a ‘roadmap’ toward equivalence between International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Standard & Poor’s Announces Changes In The S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index

Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Friday, April 22, 2005: Walloper Gold Resources Ltd. (TSXVN:WGL) will change its name to East Asia Minerals Corporation. The company will trade under the new ticker symbol “EAS” and CUSIP number 270541 10 5. There is no consolidation of capital. SEC Charges Former SG Cowen Managing Director With Insider Trading And Fraud In Connection With "Pipe" Offerings

The Securities and Exchange Commission charged Guillaume Pollet, a former managing director of SG Cowen & Co., with insider trading and fraud by short selling the stock of companies prior to the companies closing on a private offering of stock, including offerings in which SG Cowen invested.
