UK's Financial Services Authority Fines Bear Stearns For Transaction Reporting Failures

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has today fined Bear Stearns International Limited ("BSIL") £40,000 for failing to report contracts for differences (CFD) transactions. During a review of trading, the FSA discovered that BSIL had inadvertently failed to report any of its CFD transactions to the FSA since August 2001, which is when the firm began to undertake CFD business. Neither a trading participant (for its own account) nor a customer may hold an aggregate position in contract units on an Equity Option in excess of such number of contracts units having shares of underlying stock equal to following amounts of combining short positions in put options with long positions in call options of the same underlying stock or combining long positions in put options with short positions in call options of the same underlying stock.

Securities Industry Association: ‘SEC In Good Hands’ With Chairman Cox - Association Calls On New Chairman To Lead On Balanced, Effective Regulation

The Securities Industry Association on Friday July 30 congratulated newly confirmed Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Christopher Cox, and said that it looked forward to working with him and the commission on balanced, effective regulation that meets the needs of both investors and the industry. The association also welcomed new Commissioner Annette Nazareth and congratulated Commissioner Roel Campos on his reappointment.

RTS Appoints Christian M. Schild As New Board Member

The supervisory board of RTS Realtime Systems AG, announced the appointment of Mr. Christian M. Schild (44) to the RTS board effective as of today. Schild joined the leading Independent Software Vendor (ISV) in May 2004 and was appointed as Head of Global Sales in January 2005. In his new role as member of the board he will assume full management responsibility for all sales activities within RTS and its affiliates. Furthermore he will be in charge of marketing and communication.

Reuben Jeffery III Sworn In As CFTC Chairman - Walter Lukken Sworn In To A Second Term As CFTC Commissioner

Reuben Jeffery III was formally sworn in today as a Commissioner and the 10th Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the federal agency that regulates trading of commodity futures and options on futures in the United States. The oath of office was administered by the Honorable Andrew H. Card Jr., White House Chief of Staff, during a ceremony attended by CFTC Commissioners and senior staff.
