  • CBOE at Record Volume Pace For Year. Internet Index Volume Up; OEX and SPX Open Interest Increase

    The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) kept pace with record breaking year-to-date volume levels during July. Sector index volume, led by the internet indexes, increased 49% over year-to-date July, 1998. Total option volume at the CBOE hit a new year-to-date record for July of 131,942,835 contracts (84,322,066 calls and 47,620,769 puts) which is 13.3 % ahead of last year's record setting year-to-date pace of 116,435,075 contracts.

  • The Spanish Equity Derivatives Market Has A Total Growth Of 43% in July

    The Spanish equity derivatives market registered a volume of 791,703 contracts traded in July 1999, accumulating a total volume of 6,535,325 in the first semester; a 43% growth over the same period of last year. Options on Shares have experienced the biggest growth with a 182% increase.

  • Sydney Futures Exchange Agrees To Exclusive Deal With Computershare

    The Board of the Sydney Futures Exchange (SFE) today announced it would deal exclusively with Computershare Limited (CPU) after receiving a revised offer that values SFE at $260 million.

    This week, the spot month in OME aluminium futures expired sharply higher. Other contract months, however, plunged on active selling due to the yen's surge and to the easier tone in LME. Distant month : opening 176.7 yen, a high 177.1 yen (Jul. 27), a low 166.9 yen (Jul. 30), closing 167.1 yen.

  • Eurex Trading Volume Rises Again in July

    Eurex is continuing to post increases in turnover. About 35.6 million contracts were traded in the world's largest derivatives market in July, the second highest monthly volume to date. Eurex statistics show that volume increased about 60.5 percent compared with the same month of last year. Total turnover for the first seven months of 1999 exceeded 213 million contracts, about 82 million more than the number traded during the same period of 1998.

  • EUR 433 Billion in Turnover on the German Stock Exchanges in July

    Volume of 432.91 billion Euro was traded in equities, fixed income securities and warrants on the German Stock Exchanges in July. Of this amount, 246.76 billion Euro was traded in equities. Trading in Frankfurt accounted for about 84.8 percent of the total turnover in equities.

  • CME Volume Sets New July Record

    Trading activity at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) last month enjoyed its best July ever, with total volume of 15,786,660 representing a 16 percent increase over year-ago levels. Record July futures volume of 13,398,079 fuelled the increase.

    ASX announced today that it would not revise its proposal to merge the Sydney Futures Exchange (SFE) with ASX, following the SFE Board's decision to proceed with the alternative proposal from Computershare Limited ("CPU").

  • Bahrain Stock Exchange Weekly and Market Survey

    Last week was much better for the GCC markets compared to the previous week when all the markets declined. Kuwait was the only market to register a decline (down 0.3%). Saudi was up 2%, UAE 0.4%, Oman 2.5% and Bahrain up slightly 0.2%. The advance decline ratio on the BSE improved this week 11 to 4.
