    The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (SEHK), the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Limited (HKSCC) will sign agreements on Monday, July 19, 1999 for the listing of Exchange Fund Notes (EFN) on the Stock Exchange.

  • Six-Month Record at Deutsche Börse Clearing

    Settlement of registered shares with limited transferability rose substantially during the first half of the year. Deutsche Börse Clearing changed over almost half a million registered shares (474,398) with its CASCADE-RS special settlement system for registered shares, an increase of 80 percent compared with the same period of last year and almost as many as the total settlement volume last year (487,744).

    The average daily turnover on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong for the 21 trading days in June was HKD7,888 million, an increase of 7 per cent compared with the previous month. Total turnover value for the month was HKD165,640 million compared with HKD154,372 million in May.

    The Stock Exchange of Newcastle (NSX) expects to begin operation of its new, fully electronic stock market in the last quarter of 1999. The NSX market, which is subject to final regulatory approval, will be capable of trading most Australian securities.
