CBOT To Provide Access To a/c/e Trading Platform In Hong Kong

After receiving the necessary regulatory approval, the Chicago Board of Trade announced today that it is now permitted by the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) to provide and facilitate electronic access from Hong Kong to all CBOT® products via the a/c/e electronic trading platform, jointly developed by CBOT® and Eurex.

Tokyo Stock Exchange Announces Launch Date Of Basis And Block Trading for JGB

The Tokyo Stock Exchange has decided to introduce Basis and Block Trading for JGB futures on April 9, 2001 in order to satisfy the diversifying needs of market users, and to enhance the convenience of JGB Futures as a hedging tool. Basis trading will allow the execution of cash JGB and JGB futures trades simultaneously; and block trading is expected to contribute to the smoother execution of large cross-transactions.

Standard & Poor's - Index Change To TSE 300 Capped Index.

Standard & Poor's Canadian Index Operations announces that effective after the close of business on Wednesday, February 21, 2001, the following change will take place in the TSE 300 Capped Index. The weight of Nortel Networks Corporation (TSE: NT) will increase by approximately 5.22% in the TSE 300 Capped Index. The relative weight change reflects an adjustment to the float shares pursuant to TSE 300 Capped Index methodology.

IPE Announces Launch Date For Electricity Futures Trading

The IPE will launch its Electricity futures contract on Monday 19 March 2001. This launch date is subject to Government confirmation, expected on Friday 16 March, that the go live date for the New Electricity Trading Arrangements (NETA) is still targeted for 27 March 2001.

EEX Futures Market With Market Makers From The Start - Trading Fees For The Derivatives Market

On Wednesday, the European Energy Exchange (EEX) released further details about the electricity futures market that will be launched on March 1st. So-called Designated Market Makers will form an integral part of the derivatives market, and provide for liquidity in the trading of futures on electricity. Designated Market Makers have an obligation to quote binding bid and ask prices.
