RTS Board: I Quarter 2004 Data

For the first quarter of 2004 (January 5th - March 31st, 2004), total trading volume on the RTS Board increased by 96% and reached 49 million US dollars, up from 25 million dollars in the last quarter of 2003. 1 615 trades were registered, the 75% increase.

The SWX Swiss Exchange presented the first SWX Best Paper Award at the 7th annual convention of the Swiss Society for Financial Market Research (SGF). The award went to Andriy Demchuk and Rajna Gibson for Stock Market Performance and the Term Structure of Credit Spreads and to Christina E. Bannier for The Role of Information Disparity in the 1994/95 Mexican Peso Crisis: Empirical Evidence. The awards ceremony was held on 2nd April at the ConventionPoint of the SWX Swiss Exchange.

NASD announced today that Christine Gochuico, a former vice president and telecommunications research analyst for Salomon Smith Barney, Inc. (SSB), settled charges relating to misleading research by agreeing to a $100,000 fine and a six-month suspension from the securities industry. For an additional 18 months following her suspension, Gochuico is prohibited from allowing her name to appear on, or otherwise be publicly associated with, any broker-dealer's research report, advertisement or sales

Standard & Poor's will change the IWF (Investable Weight Factor) for Snam Rete Gas (Italy, ISIN IT0003153415) a member of the S&P/MIB Index from 0.402 to 0.499 effective at the close of trading Wednesday, April 07, 2004. This is following the sale of ordinary shares by Eni, which has reduced its holding to 50.07 of shares outstanding.
