    We can't comment on rumor and speculation, and we are not familiar with Nasdaq's plans. As background, however, remember that Nasdaq has for years told the press that it was in discussions with "a number" of NYSE-listed companies that were ready to transfer from the Exchange. (As a reminder, Rule 500-often cited by Nasdaq as the reason companies couldn't leave-was significantly relaxed in 2000 and completely abolished in 2003.) Since 1990, 680 companies have transferred from Nasdaq to the NYSE;

  • NYSE Board Names Richard G. Ketchum As Chief Regulatory Officer And Takes Other Regulatory Actions

    The Board of Directors of the New York Stock Exchange appointed Richard G. Ketchum, 53, to the newly created role of Chief Regulatory Officer, effective June 2, reporting to the Board Regulatory Oversight & Regulatory Budget Committee, whose members are Marshall N. Carter, Chairman, Dr. Shirley A. Jackson and Dennis Weatherstone. The Board instructed Mr. Reed to continue discussions with The Nasdaq Stock Market about enabling Mr. Ketchum to begin his CRO duties earlier.

  • NYSE Board Asks SEC And NYS Attorney General To Pursue Webb Report Findings Of Unreasonable Compensation Of Grasso

    The Board of Directors of the New York Stock Exchange today referred the so-called Webb Report to the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Attorney General of the State of New York with the request that they "pursue the matter both on our behalf and as part of your broader responsibilities."

  • Nymex To Increase Margin Rates On PJM Monthly Electricity, Silver, And Copper Futures

    The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., announced today that it will increase the margins on its NYMEX Division PJM monthly electricity futures contract and COMEX Division silver and copper futures contracts at the close of business tomorrow.
