Policy Change Concerning Inclusion of New Companies In TOPIX

In response to earnest requests from equity portfolio managers and professional stock traders who use Tokyo Stock Price Index ("TOPIX") including its sub-indices for their investment strategy, the TSE has decided to put off the day of inclusion of certain newly listed stocks in TOPIX.

HKFE Seeks Exchange Participants' Comments On Proposal To Remove Fixed Minimum Commissions

The Hong Kong Futures Exchange (HKFE) is seeking Exchange Participants' comments on a proposal to remove fixed minimum commissions on all contracts traded on the Exchange effective 1 April 2002. This is consistent with the Budget Speech of Financial Secretary Donald Tsang today, which calls for the reduction of the rate of stamp duty and brokerage commissions to help maintain the competitiveness of Hong Kong in the global financial marketplace.

EEX Presents Integrated Concept For Spot Market And Futures Market - Spot Market For Electricity Will Be Launched This Summer - Futures Market Will Follow In Fourth Quarter - Xetra And Eurex As The Trading Systems - E-Commerce For Electricity Trading

"The European Energy Exchange is an exchange of the energy sector for the energy sector." This was how the Supervisory Board chairman of EEX AG, Otto E. Nägeli, described the new exchange at a press event presenting the integrated concept for the spot market and futures market for electricity in Frankfurt on Thursday. The spot market will be launched this summer on the Xetra trading system of Deutsche Börse. The futures market will be launched during the fourth quarter of this year.

CME's E-mini Equity Index Contracts Set New Volume Records

Trading volume in the CME's E-mini S&P 500 Stock Price Index and E-mini Nasdaq 100 Index futures contracts both rose to record levels yesterday, March 7. The new record for E-mini S&P 500 futures totaled 86,423, surpassing the 82,817 mark set on Feb. 28. For E-mini Nasdaq 100 futures, the new volume record now stands at 28,433 and bests the previous record of 28,265 on Feb. 24.

Stock Exchange Of Hong Kong Participant Certificates And Branch Certificates

The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong announces that all certificates representing holdings of Stock Exchange 'A' shares have ceased to have effect for any purposes as from March 6, 2000. The Membership Certificates and Branch Certificates issued prior to March 6, 2000 have also become void. They have been replaced by Exchange Participant Certificates and new Branch Certificates which should be displayed by Exchange Participants at their place of business under the Rules of the Exchange.
