Futures & Options On Russian Trading System: Weekly Data Report

For the week of October 14th-October 18th, 2002, the total trading volume on FORTS (Futures & Options on RTS) reached 502 thousand contracts or 1 688.5 million rubles in underlying value, compared to the last week's 603.3 thousand contracts and 1 980.5 million rubles. The number of trades executed went down from 15 508 to 11 936.

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) today announced that following extensive consultation with market professionals, it is re-engineering the exchange's tax-exempt offering and will launch a new contract for this market on Friday, October 25, 2002. The CBOT® 10-Year Municipal Note Index futures will replace the Municipal Bond Index Futures contract based on the Bond BuyerTM TM 40 Index (BBI-40), which will cease trading after its December 2002 expiration.
