London Stock Exchange Monthly Market Report July 2001 - July equity trading Volume 36 Per Cent Higher Than July 2000 - July SETS Order Book Trading Volume 98 Per Cent Higher Than For July 2000

Monthly Equity Trading Equity trading in July 2001 on the London Stock Exchange saw £428 billion of business spread across 3.97 million bargains. By volume, this represented an increase of 36 per cent over July last year; by value, a 4 per cent decrease.

Jürg Spillmann New Deputy CEO Of Eurex

The managing boards of Eurex have appointed Jürg Spillmann the new deputy chief executive officer, as the world's leading derivatives market reported on Tuesday: Jürg Spillmann (50), member of the Executive Board since Eurex was founded in 1998, was appointed Deputy CEO of Eurex Zurich AG as well as its subsidiaries, Eurex Clearing AG and Eurex Frankfurt AG, effective August 1, 2001.

Deutsche Börse Updates Composition Of Equity Indexes - Changes In MDAX, SDAX And NEMAX 50 - SDAX Will Be Reduced To 50 Stocks On June 24, 2002

On Tuesday, Deutsche Börse decided on changes in the MDAX, SDAX and NEMAX 50 indexes, to become effective on September 24, as part of its regular review of the composition of its equity indexes. Moreover, effective June 24, 2002, Deutsche Börse will reduce the number of companies in the SDAX (small-cap quality index) to 50, as Deutsche Börse reported on Tuesday.

CBOE And CBOT Agree To Interpretation Of Exercise Right

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®") today announced they have reached an agreement that clarifies the scope of CBOT® members' exercise right. The exercise right, which was granted to full CBOT® members when CBOE was formed, allows a full CBOT®" member to become a CBOE member without buying a separate seat.

Stock Exchange Of Thailand Board Appoints Chavalit Thanachanan As Its 11th Chairman

Mr. Vicharat Vichit-Vadakan, President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), said that today's (August 6) special meeting of the SET board passed a unanimous resolution appointing Mr. Chavalit Thanachanan as the board's new chairman. Mr. Chavalit, a representative of the committee members appointed by the SEC, is replacing Mr. Amaret Sila-On, whose time in office has now expired.

Philadelphia Stock Exchange Continues To Set Record Volume

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today that 179,662,406 shares traded for July 2001. This represents a 31% increase over the same month last year when 136,980,844 shares traded. Equity trading volume for the first seven months of 2001 reached 1.2 billion shares traded. The PHLX currently trades nearly 2,200 equities.

HKEx: Stock Options Trading Successfully Moved To HKATS

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) announced that Derivatives Trading Integration was successful today (Monday, 6 August) with the migration of stock options trading to HKATS, the Hong Kong Futures Automated Trading System. Stock options had been traded on TOPS, the Traded Options System. Clearing and settlement of stock options trades continues to be performed on TOPS.

CME Eurodollar Futures And Options Set Open Interest Records

Open interest in Eurodollar futures and options on futures traded on Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) set records Friday, Aug. 3, at 4,668,396 and 7,235,279 positions respectively. The previous Eurodollar open interest records were established on June 15, 2001, at 4,650,957 in futures and on June 14, 2001, at 7,163,892 positions in options.

CHF 99,399 Million In Turnover On SWX In July

A total volume of CHF 99,399 million was traded on SWX in July, 4.0 percent less than the month before. The total comprises CHF 78,894 million in equities (including funds), CHF 14,828 million in bonds, CHF 2,827 in derivatives, CHF 205 in Exchange Traded Funds, CHF 1,316 in USD denominated Eurobonds, CHF 1,270 in EUR denominated Eurobonds and CHF 58 in GBP denominated Eurobonds.
