One Year Of SMAX - Deutsche Börse Assesses Performance - Turnover In SMAX Has Tripled - Index Outpaces MDAX

"We've achieved quite a bit in the SMAX quality segment within one year's time", said Volker Potthoff, member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Börse AG, in a positive assessment of the segment's performance on its first birthday. Turnover in the shares of the now 122 SMAX companies has tripled in the meantime, he said, and amounted to 1.5 billion euros in March 2000. CBOT 10-Year Agency Contracts Hit Critical Milestone -- 20,000 Daily Open Interest Level Fifteen Days In A Row

The Chicago Board of Trade announced today that CBOT members have passed another critical milestone in the growth of the 10-Year agency note futures contract. CBOT members have traded above the 20,000 open interest level 15 days in a row, and set open interest records on the last five trading days.

CBOE Eliminates All Fees On Customer Stock Option Orders

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) today announced that effective May 1, 2000 it is eliminating all Exchange fees for public customer stock option orders regardless of size or routing method. Currently, customer fees for stock option orders that are not electronically routed include a 9-cent transaction fee, plus a 5-cent trade match fee and a 3-cent floor brokerage fee.

On April 17, OME RSS3 futures opened easier on stop loss selling by speculators and on fresh selling by bears due to the yen's rise to the 103 yen level against US dollar after the plunge in NY stock prices. The current and distant contract months fell by 2.6 yen and 0.6 yen to 63.50 yen and 78.10 yen, respectively, from the previous close.
