Equity Open Interest Reaches New Heights In July - Open Interest Record Set at 65,498,515 Contracts

Although the summer months are historically sleepy for the financial markets, The Options Industry Council (OIC) announced today that equity open interest reached a record high on July 21, with 65,498,515 contracts. This record surpasses the one recently set on April 20 with 63,292,614 contracts. At month-end, equity open interest stood at 54,368,497 contracts. Buenos Aires Futures Exchange Monthly Report For July 2000.

The Mercado a Término de Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires Futures Exchange) traded 17,042 contracts in July 2000 compared to a figure of 21,148 contracts in July 1999. Total volume for the first seven months of 2000 was 148,692 contracts, compared to 137,083 contracts in 1999. In July 2000 13,529 futures contracts were traded, compared to 15,842 in 1999. There were 3,513 option contracts traded in 2000, compared to 5,306 in 1999.

Borsa Italiana Monthly Key Figures - July

Turnover for July was EUR 55,587.2 million. This compares to EUR 65,275.7 million in June. Domestic turnover in July was EUR 52,260.1 million, foreign turnover EUR 1,853.6 million, Nuovo Mercato EUR 1,396.9 million and on the Ristretto market EUR 76.6 million. Turnover for the period January to July 2000 was EUR 540,515.5million.

New Composition Amsterdam Exchanges-Index® Due To The Take-Over Of Baan By Invensys

Due to the take-over of Baan N.V. by Invensys Holding Ltd., Baan N.V. will be taken out of the Amsterdam Exchanges-index as of Friday, 4 August 2000. The weighting factor of Baan N.V. will be divided pro rato over the remaining 24 stocks. As a result of this the weighting factors for the remaining 24 stocks will change as of Friday, 4 August 2000.
