Deutsche Börse: US Segment Off To Successful Start - Xetra Market Share Five Times Higher

Two weeks after the launch of its new U.S. segment on Xetra, Deutsche Börse has an initial positive assessment: Turnover and market share for electronic trading have increased considerably. Since the market was launched on September 24, U.S. equities with a value of 144.7 million euros have been traded on Xetra with an average daily volume of 14.5 million euros traded. The Chicago Stock Exchange's (CHX) total share volume decreased 8 percent and total trade volume decreased by 35 percent from September 2000. OTC share volume decreased by 27 percent, while OTC trade volume decreased by 61 percent from a year ago.

The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (Nasdaq®) has begun implementing a new pricing plan for the fees associated with stock quoting and trading on Nasdaq. The first phase of this plan was submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in late September and took effect on October 1. The second phase of the plan was submitted to the SEC this week, for implementation on November 1. The third phase is being submitted to the SEC today for implementation on December 3.
