  • Euronext Introduces Futures On Fortis shares

    Euronext Amsterdam Derivative Markets N.V. will list futures on Fortis shares as from 2 November 2001, thereby expanding the number of futures listed on major securities. Futures on ABN Amro, Aegon, ING, Philips, Royal Dutch, Unilever, KPN and Ahold shares were introduced previously. Each contract has an underlying value of 100 shares.

  • CFTC Adopts More Flexible Regulations For Intermediaries

    The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has revised many of its key rules governing firms that serve as intermediaries in commodity futures and options transactions: futures commission merchants, introducing brokers, commodity pool operators, and commodity trading advisors. These revisions will also affect associated persons of these firms, as well as floor brokers and floor traders. Consideration of further regulatory relief is expected in the near future.

    Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) will introduce Three-year Exchange Fund Note (EFN) Futures contracts for trading on Monday, 12 November, subject to the approval of the Securities and Futures Commission. EFNs are issued by the Hong Kong Government. They serve as monetary policy instruments for the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and help establish the benchmark yield curve for the Hong Kong dollar debt market.
