Stanchart surprised the market and reported good results for the full year to 31st December 2001. Although the growth of 31% in earnings must be viewed in the context of coming off a fairly low base due to 18 months of stagnation, the results are nonetheless very pleasing, as there was a strong turn around in H2 2001.

The American Stock Exchange Reports Increase In Short Interest

The American Stock Exchange® (Amex®) member and non-member organizations today reported short interest of 460,058,810 shares as of the February 15 settlement date, an increase of of 18,902,994 shares from the 441,155,816 (adjusted) reported in mid-January. The February figure represents trades through February 12, 2002.

Tallinn Stock Exchange Approves 4 New Members

The Management Board of Tallinn Stock Exchange (TSE) approved TSE membership applications of Mandatum Stockbrokers, Nordea Securities, Credit Suisse First Boston Europe (CSFB) and Evli Bank, effective as of February 25, 2002. Mandatum and Nordea Securities have announced their intention to start trading on February 25, 2002.
