The Bank Of New York, Chicago Mercantile Exchange Introduce New Collateral Management Program To Help Members Meet Margin Requirements

The Bank of New York, a leading provider of securities services, and Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) today announced the introduction of a new program which expands the range of collateral that CME members can use to satisfy margin requirements. The Bank of New York's collateral management system will provide CME participants with enhanced collateral flexibility.

For the week of August 12th-August 16th, 2002, total volume in the RTS Bonds, the system facilitating trading of corporate, government, municipal debt, and Eurobonds, decreased from 1 577 thousand dollars to 1 090 thousand. The number of trades went up from 15 to 21.

NYSE Announces First-Half 2002 Financial Results

The New York Stock Exchange reported revenues of $425.0 million and net income of $20.7 million in the first six months of 2002, as compared with $444.7 million in revenue and $41.7 million in net income during the same period a year ago.

HKFE Announces Revised Margins For Three-Month HIBOR Futures Contract

Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), announced that with effect from the commencement of trading on Wednesday, 21 August 2002, the minimum margins to be collected by an Exchange Participant from its clients in respect of their dealings in the following futures contract will be as outlined in the table below. The adjustments are based on the clearing company's normal procedures and standard margining methodology.

The Palestine Securities Exchange said in a press release today: "This is to announce that a trading session at the PSE will take place (Exceptionally) today afternoon between 2-3 PM. This should be the first trading session since about two months because of the curfew and closure imposed on the City of Nablus and other cities from the Israeli army."
