    The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), announces that with effect from 1 July 2004 (Thursday), China Shipping Container Lines Company Limited (Stock Code: 2866) will be added to the list of designated securities eligible for short selling.

  • FTSEurofirst Index Series Selected By Barclays Global Investors

    The FTSEurofirst Index Series has been selected by Barclays Global Investors (BGI) as the underlying benchmark for two European ETFs. Beginning in Autumn 2004, BGI will switch the underlying benchmark for the iShares FTSE Euro 100 and iShares FTSE Eurotop 100 to the FTSEurofirst Index Series.

    Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) has received the confirmation that the Securities and Futures Commission has approved the appointment of Patrick Conroy, HKEx’s Chief Operating Officer, as the Chief Executive of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (SEHK) and Gerald Greiner, HKEx’s Deputy Chief Operating Officer, as the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE). Both appointments took effect on 21 June 2004.
