OneChicago Reports 104% Increase For March 2005 Volume

OneChicago, LLC had a record month in March, eclipsing previous monthly volume, average daily volume and open interest records. The Exchange saw a total of 765,424 contracts trade in March, which is 104% higher than the old monthly record of 375,463 set in March 2004. Average daily volume was 34,792 contracts and open interest reached 551,501 contracts before the quarterly expiration. Year-to-date volume is 64% ahead of first quarter 2004.

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., will transition its e-miNY(sm) crude oil and natural gas futures contracts to the NYMEX ClearPort(sm) trading platform as the NYMEX miNY(sm) energy futures contracts on Monday, June 20, 2005, at 3:15 PM New York time.

As of 1 April this year, ICEX will implement the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) developed by Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) and Standard & Poor’s (S&P) for classifying listed companies into industries. The international derivatives market Eurex, closed the first quarter of this year with record volumes. In the first three months, 312 million contracts were traded on Eurex, 8 percent more than in the first quarter of 2004 (Jan-March 2004: 290 million contracts), which was, at the time, also the strongest quarter to date. Deutsche Börse: Equities Turnover In March 4 Percent Up Month-On-Month - €305 Billion In Turnover On German Stock Exchanges In March

The German stock exchanges generated an equities turnover based on the order book statistics, which show all transactions in the order book of Xetra and broker-supported trading on the floor in single counting, of €96.8 billion in March - an increase of 4 percent month-on-month (February 2005: €92.8 billion). German equities accounted for €91.1 billion of this total, with foreign equities comprising €5.7 billion.

Copenhagen Stock Exchange: The Equity Market Hits Second Consecutive Record Month

For the second month in a row, trading on the equity market reached new highs. Total turnover amounted to DKK 77.1 billion, which is 28 per cent higher than the record set in February. The value of average daily trading peaked at DKK 3.9 billion. A total of 275,000 trades were executed, 2 per cent more than the record month of February.

CME, the largest U.S. futures exchange, today reported that total volume for the first quarter averaged a record 3.9 million contracts per day, up 39 percent from the same period a year ago. Total CME volume was above 240 million contracts for the quarter. Average daily volume on the CME Globex electronic trading platform was 2.6 million contracts, a 95 percent increase from first-quarter 2004 and a 26 percent increase from fourth-quarter 2004.
