Nymex Reaches Record Volume On Natural Gas Calendar Spread Options Contract

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., announced today, that a record 10,000 natural gas calendar spread options contracts were traded on December 15, surpassing the previous record of 6,600 contracts on October 15, 2004.

NASDAQ Announces Appointment Of Anna Ewing As Chief Information Officer

The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (“NASDAQ”; NASDAQ: NDAQ) announced today that Anna Ewing has succeeded Steve Randich as Executive Vice President of Operations and Technology and Chief Information Officer. Prior to this appointment, Ewing served as NASDAQ's Senior Vice President of Applications Services. Ms. Ewing will report to NASDAQ CEO Bob Greifeld.

London Stock Exchange: Record Year For International Listings

In 2005 the London Stock Exchange attracted a record 129 international companies, from 29 countries, to its Main Market and AIM – an increase of 82 per cent on 2004. International companies raised a total of £5.9 billion in new issues on the Exchange’s markets, the highest value since 2000.

Internal market: European Commission Granted Authority To Negotiate International Convention On Holding Securities

The European Commission has been granted authority by the Council to open negotiations, on behalf of the EU, on part of a draft Convention aiming to make it easier to hold and transfer securities at a world-wide level. The negotiations will take place within the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT).

Hedge Fund Manager, Former Broker John F. Mangan, Jr. Barred, Fined $125,000 To Resolve Charges In PIPE Shares Deal - NASD Investigation into Other Individuals, Entities Continuing

NASD announced today that John F. Mangan, Jr., a hedge fund manager formerly registered as a broker with Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co. (FBR) of Arlington, VA, has been permanently barred from associating with any NASD-registered firm and will pay a $125,000 fine to settle charges that he deceptively obtained shares in a PIPE transaction, improperly sold the shares short, and shared in profits from the shares without obtaining permission from FBR.
