    The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, announced today (Friday) the appointments of Stephen Hunt and Michael Lee to fill vacancies on the Main Board Listing Committee, effective 5 November 2004 (today). Mr Hunt is appointed under the Market Practitioners and Users category and Mr Lee is appointed under the Listed Company Representatives category.

  • HKEx Announces The Way Forward On The Trading Hall

    The Board of Directors of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) has approved in principle today (Friday) a plan to retain the Trading Hall of the Stock Exchange and make it a multi-purpose facility. Implementation of the plan is subject to successful renewal of the lease, which will expire in October of next year.

    CME, the largest U.S. futures exchange, set a new volume record of 8,946 contracts in its E-miniTM S&P 500® equity options, up from the previous record of 6,142 set on October 11, 2004. Yesterday also marked a new open interest record of 45,074 positions for the contract. Trading in the exchange’s E-mini S&P 500 equity options has more than quadrupled since last year.     The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®) announced today that on November 4, 2004, volume and open interest in the exchange's Precious Metals complex rose to new records of 9,018 contracts and 11,113 contracts, respectively. These records surpassed the previous all-time complex highs of 8,356 contracts in volume and 10,963 contracts in open interest set earlier in the week on November 2.
