    The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced today that trading volume in options on the Standard & Poor's 500 Index (SPX) set a new single day record on Friday, September 16 with 801,974 contracts traded. Friday's record S&P 500 Index options volume at CBOE surpassed the previous high of 759,149 contracts traded on August 16, 2005. Year-to-date, 43,716,475 SPX contracts have traded at CBOE, a 41% increase over 2004, with an average daily volume of 260,217 contracts.
