CME, the largest U.S. futures exchange, today reported that total volume for the second quarter averaged a record 4.4 million contracts per day, up 33 percent from the same period a year ago. Total CME volume was above 280 million contracts for the quarter. CBOT Average Daily Volume Climbs 14.8 Percent To New Quarterly Record - June Average Daily Volume Increases 18.5 Percent From Last Year

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) announced today that Exchange-wide average daily volume climbed to a new record in the second quarter. Average daily volume rose to 2,889,059 contracts in the quarter ended June 30, up 14.8 percent from the same period last year. Total volume in the quarter also reached a record 184,899,800 contracts, up 16.6 percent from the same period in 2004.

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced today that June trading volume at CBOE was 36,885,731 contracts traded, 39% higher than the 26,545,956 contracts traded in June 2004. The AIM market has crowned its tenth year in operation by completing its strongest ever quarter of activity in terms of new admissions and money raised during the second quarter of 2005.
