LME To Launch Cash Settled, Monthly And Electronically Traded Small-Size Contracts

The London Metal Exchange (LME) has today confirmed that it will launch small-size, cash settled, electronically traded monthly futures contracts initially for copper, aluminium and zinc before the end of November 2006.

FTSE Launches New Index In Partnership With JSE

FTSE Group, in partnership with the JSE Limited, has launched a new tradable index – the FTSE/JSE Dividend+ Index. The new index takes companies from the FTSE/JSE Top 40 Index and FTSE/JSE Mid Cap Index excluding real estate companies and ranks them by their one-year forecast dividend yield. The top 30 companies make up the FTSE/JSE Dividend+ Index and the constituents’ weightings in the index are determined by their dividend yield.

The Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM), the world’s leading bullion and energy exchange and the Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX), the world’s newest fully electronic commodities & currencies derivatives exchange, have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aimed at developing cooperation and information sharing which would be beneficial to both the parties.

CBOT Binary Options On Fomc Target Rate Contracts Set New Volume Record As Total Exceeds 5,000 Contracts For First Time; Open Interest Also Reaches New High Mark - 7,209 Contracts

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®) announced today that its Binary Options on the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) Target Rate contracts established a new volume record on Friday as trading surpassed the 5,000 contract mark for the first time. The new record, 5,537 contracts, was nearly four times greater than the previous record – 1,426 contracts set on August 10, 2006.

CBOT Announces Modifications To Fee Schedule - Exchange Reduces Volume Discount Thresholds For Certain Membership Types

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®) today announced modifications to its trading fee schedule effective October 1, 2006. The revisions include a reduction in the trading volume requirements for certain members to receive volume discounts, an increase in fees for non-members who trade the CBOT Treasury complex, and a simplified fee schedule segmented by product and membership category.

American Stock Exchange Reports Increase In Short Interest

The American Stock Exchange (Amex) member and non-member organizations today reported short interest of 954,458,793 shares as of the August 15, 2006 settlement date, an increase of 17,126,227 from the 937,332,566 (adjusted) shares reported in mid-July. The August figure represents trades through August 10, 2006.
