Stock Exchange Of Thailand Listed Companies’ Profits In Q1/2005 Rose By 27%, Worth Over THB136 Bln. In Total

Listed companies announced a total of THB136.48 bln. (approx. USD3.412 bln.) worth of profits in Q1/2005, accounting for an overall 27% year-on-year increase. The Resources Industry Group ranked highest, with net profits collectively worth THB41.41 bln., followed by the THB31.11 bln. of the Financials Group. The SET50 and SET100 companies had equal profit growth of 26%. The top five stocks with highest net profits are PTT, SCC, BBL, ADVANC, and SCB.

Standard & Poor’s Announces Changes In The S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index

Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Wednesday, May 18, 2005: Western Lakota Energy Services Inc. (TSXVN:WLE) will be removed from the index. The company will be delisted from the TSX Venture Exchange and will graduate to trade on the TSX under the same ticker symbol.

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today the re-election of five of its board of governors and the election of one new member. The positions were filled at the PHLX’s annual stockholders meeting held yesterday, each for a three-year term. Eight-two percent of the outstanding shares were represented in the balloting.
