  • Hong Kong Futures Exchange To Adjust Hutchison Whampoa Limited Futures Contracts

    The Hong Kong Futures Exchange (HKFE) will adjust Hutchison Whampoa Limited Futures contracts as a result of the company's decision to issue one ordinary share for every ten ordinary shares as part of a final dividend payment to shareholders.

    The Central Bank of Iceland held a weekly auction of repurchase agreements on May 9 of the standard maturity of 14 days. The auction was a fixed rate one at 10.1 per cent p.a. Offers were made for a total amount of 9.4 billion krónur resulting in repurchase contracts for that amount.

    Turnover for April was EUR 56,450.0 million. This compares to EUR 107,309.0 million in March. Domestic turnover in April was EUR 50,347.7 million, foreign turnover EUR 1,227.0 million. Nuovo Mercato EUR 4,798.6 million and on the Ristretto market EUR 76.7 million. Turnover for the period January to April 2000 was EUR 344,864.3 million.

This move makes SGX-DT the first Asian exchange to offer electronic-based derivatives trading on a global front.     The Exchange has considered the comments from market participants on the existing requirements of share schemes and the relevant proposal in the consultation paper in May 1999 and proposes to relax certain major requirements and introduce additional disclosure requirements in Chapter 17 of the Exchange Listing Rules.

    The Hong Kong Futures Exchange (HKFE) announced that May 6th's street-wide simulated trading on its HKATS electronic trading system has been completed as planned. Today's simulated trading followed a similar exercise conducted on 29 April.
