Hong Kong's Securities And Futures Commission Bans Ma Tin Luk For Three Years

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has banned Mr Ma Tin Luk from re-entering the industry for three years from 24 April 2013 to 23 April 2016 for fabricating telephone order recordings and providing false and misleading information to the SFC to conceal the lack of records on a short selling order he executed for a client in November 2009.

The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) will celebrate the upgrade of the BSX exchange technology platform to NASDAQ OMX state of the art trading system, X-stream, by opening the NASDAQ at the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square in New York City, NY on Monday, April 29, 2013. The Honorable Grant Gibbons, Bermuda’s Minister of Economic Development and Greg Wojciechowski, the CEO of the Bermuda Stock Exchange along with other leading Bermuda business executives and clients of the Bermuda Stock Exchange will be present at the opening.

Speech By CFTC Commissioner Scott D. O’Malia, Federal Reserve Bank Of New York, 33 Liberty Street, New York, NY - Foreign Exchange Committee, Forum On The Dodd Frank Act And The Foreign Exchange Market

As you know all too well, just over four years ago we suffered the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. In response, Congress passed the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (“Dodd-Frank”) with the twin goals of increasing market transparency and reducing systemic risk. Many of the regulatory changes found in Dodd-Frank can be traced back to four principles agreed upon by the G-20 Nations at a September 2009 meeting held to discuss reform of the Over-the-Counter (“OTC”) derivatives market. The four principles include the following: 1-most OTC derivatives should be transitioned to trading on centralized platforms; 2-these derivatives should be cleared through a clearinghouse; 3-data on the derivatives should be reported to a swap data repository (“SDR”); and 4-derivatives that are not cleared should be subject to higher capital requirements.

Nigerian Stock Exchange: Stock Market Report For April 26, 2013

A turnover of 1.758 billion shares worth of N17.898 billion in 23,958 deals were transacted this week by investors on the floor of the Exchange in contrast to a total of 2.114 billion shares valued at N26.678 billion that exchanged hands last week in 27,624 deals. At the close of trading activities for the week, the Financial Services sector (measured by turnover volume) came top and accounted for1.443 billion shares valued at N10.502 billion exchanged hands by investors in 14,600 deals. Consumer Goods sector followed in the activity chart with 69.691 million shares valued at N5.130 billion traded in 4,100 deals.

NYSE Euronext Announces 2013 Annual Meeting Of Stockholders Vote Results

At the NYSE Euronext (NYX) annual stockholders’ meeting held on April 25, 2013:
- 16 director nominees received a majority of votes cast, with an average approval rate of 96.35% of votes cast,
- Stockholders ratified the appointment of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as the Company’s independent registered public accounting firm for 2013,
- Stockholders approved on an advisory, non-binding basis, the Company’s executive compensation,
- Stockholders approved a Company proposal amending and restating the Company’s Omnibus Incentive Plan,
- Stockholders reapproved the performance goals under the Company’s Omnibus Incentive Plan,
- Stockholders did not approve a Company proposal amending certain provisions in the Company’s Amended and Restated Certificate of Incorporation (Charter) to allow stockholders to call special meetings (Special Meeting Proposal), and
- Stockholders did not approve a Company proposal amending certain provisions in the Company’s Charter to allow stockholders to act by written consent (Written Consent Proposal).
