All Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Critical Systems Handle Year 2000 Transition Without A Hiccup

Winnipeg Commodity Exchange (WCE) experienced no critical systems problems after testing was completed today and it will be business-as-usual on Monday January 3, 2000.

SFE And NZFOE Year 2000 Compliance

The SFE and NZFOE will cease trading for the year at 11:00 am EST and 12:00 pm NZT respectively on 31 December 1999. The SFE will recommence trading at 8:30 am EST 4 January 2000 and the NZFOE will recommence trading at 8:00 am NZT 5 January 2000.

Nasdaq Reconfirms Holiday Schedule To Close Today At 1 P.M.

The Nasdaq Stock Market® announced that, as part of the previously announced holiday schedule for major U.S. equity markets, it will close today at 1 p.m. eastern time. Nasdaq® technical systems will also close early for the New Year's Holiday according to the following schedule:

Nasdaq Concludes Record-Breaking Year As Demonstrated In Preliminary Year-End Results

The Nasdaq Stock Market® is ringing in the new millennium with a fifth consecutive year of record gains. The year 1999 also produced 136 trading days where volume exceeded one billion shares traded on Nasdaq®. Share volume reached 265.6 billion, up from 201.5 billion in 1998-a 32 percent increase for the year. The market value of the more than 4,800 companies listed on Nasdaq ended the year at $5.2 trillion, up over 100 percent from year-end 1998.

Changes To The List Of Securities For Calculating The RTS Indices

The existing methodology of the RTS indices calculation is based on the price information on the shares, included in the A category list of the RTS listed securities. According to the RTS Board of Directors decision starting from 1 January 2000 A and B category classification of the RTS securities will be cancelled.

1999 ASX Year-End Statistics

The domestic market capitalisation of the Australian Stock Exchange at the end of 1999 was AUD652 billion a 21.6 per cent increase compared to the end 1998 figure of AUD536 billion. Domestic market capitalisation as a percentage of GDP was 95.0% at the end of 1999 compared to the end 1998 figure of 83.7%. There was no change in market liquidity which was 53.0% in 1999 and 1998.

The Toronto Stock Exchange New Years Trading Hours

The Toronto Stock Exchange will be closing trading at 1:00pm on December 31, 1999. This special arrangement will allow securities firms to get an early start on processing year-end transactions. The TSE will also be closed Monday, January 3, 200 in lieu of January 1 2000 (New Years Day).

The Stock Exchange Of Hong Kong Is Fully Prepared For The Y2K Rollover

The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong is fully prepared for the Y2K rollover. Rectification of the Exchange's securities and options trading systems, information services system, and other internal systems have been completed as early as mid-1999. A comprehensive Y2K contingency plan is in place and tested. The Exchange has also established co-ordination with other market operators, regulators and business partners to manage any possible Y2K problems.
