    The Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) will hold its annual Share Day on Saturday 22 January 2000, at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour to help members of the public understand how the sharemarket works.

  • The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange Introduces New Opening Schedule

    The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange announced that starting Sunday, January 16, the opening of the TA 100 shares will take place at 9:45 a.m. Continuous trading will begin immediately after the opening. The opening for the remaining TASE shares ("Yeter") will take place at 10:15 a.m. and continuous trading will follow. The trading day will end as usual at 3:45 p.m.

    An aggregate volume of 108,195 shares crossed the floor on January 14 when five securities traded. Grace Kennedy emerged as the volume leader with 82,759 shares, followed by Life of Barbados with 10,000 shares. One security advanced, three traded firm and one declined.

    The average daily turnover for the 21 trading days in December was HKD12,650 million, an increase of 16 per cent compared with the previous month. Total turnover value for the month was HKD265,648 million compared with HKD239,400 million in November.

  • Program Trading Averaged 19.1 Percent Of NYSE Volume During Jan. 3-7

    The New York Stock Exchange yesterday released its weekly program-trading data submitted by its member firms. The report includes trading in all markets as reported to the NYSE for Jan. 3-7. The data indicated that during Jan. 3-7, program trading amounted to 19.1 percent of NYSE average daily volume of 1,068.7 million shares, or 204.2 million shares a day.

  • Nymex To List Electricity Contracts For Daytime Electronic Trading Beginning March 2

    The New York Mercantile Exchange yesterday announced that it will move electricity trading from open outcry to the NYMEX ACCESS® electronic trading system following the close of the March 2 trading session.
